We hold auditions starting January for all courses beginning the following September. Early application is advised to guarantee availability but we continue to audition regularly throughout the year until August. The majority of auditions are held at our Guildford site. In addition regional auditions will be held in Manchester, Glasgow, Jersey and Isle of Man.

If you are applying for a BA (Hons) degree course you will also need to make a separate application to UCAS by the January 2020 deadline. Our degree courses are validated by De Montfort University.

If you have already submitted your UCAS application you can add PPA later, or make an application through UCAS Extra after 25th February, if you are successful in gaining a place after audition.

Entry Requirements for BA (Hons) Degree Courses

96 UCAS tariff points from Level 3 studies or equivalent, which normally include an A Level or BTEC Extended Diploma in a Music / Dance / Acting-related subject.

A minimum of five GCSEs including English Language at Grade C / Grade 4 or above or equivalent international qualification

Audition Fees

The audition fee for all courses is £35 and is non-refundable. This is a one-off fee payable through the AMS on applying and covers the cost of the workshops and panel auditions, as well as any recall auditions if required.

FEES FOR 2020/2021

PPA is a funded and private fee paying college offering courses in Musical Theatre, and Acting for Stage and Screen.

  • 3 Year BA (Hons) Performance in Musical Theatre-£9,250 per year, extra activities £1,250 per year
  • 3 Year BA (Hons) Acting for Stage and Screen– £9,250 per year ,extra activities £1,250 per year
  • 3 Year Professional Diploma in Musical Theatre– £10,500 per year
  • 1 Year Intensive in Musical Theatre– £10,500
  • 1 Year Intensive in Acting– £10,500
  • ATCL Teaching in Theatre Arts– £2,150

A deposit of £500 is required upon acceptance to confirm a student’s place on our Diploma and Foundation courses.

This is a non-refundable deposit and will be reimbursed at the end of the course.

All fees are to be paid 2 weeks before the start of the each term. Fees can be paid monthly but will incur a 5% admin charge.


Extra Activities – £1,250 per year (This is NOT a one off payment)

Two optional packages of extra-curricular activities are also available for students to add to their degree course to provide the student with industry-ready experience. The industry is a vocational industry. We feel, as a college, that the degree provides you with an excellent grounding for entry into the industry.

These extra-curricular activities do enhance the grounding for entry into the industry and work at the end of their training offered by the degree.

* Please note that these extra activities will not be available to students that opt for the degree course only and successful completion of the degree course is not dependent on students undertaking any of the extra activities listed above.

This MUST be paid for privately and directly to the college at the start of each year.


Guildford Borough Council is able to award Housing Benefit to students who are studying a Further Education course at our establishment. Students would need to start the course before the age of 21 and be living in privately rented accommodation (which is not affiliated with the educational establishment) to be eligible.



The degree courses may, subject to eligibility, be covered by Student Loan Company funding and maintenance loans and/or grants may be available. Student funding (and course designation by DMU) is subject to change and is reviewed on an annual basis.
