'Sweet Charity' - 2016

CEO Creative Director

LOUISE PIERI

Louise Pieri grew up in Yorkshire before moving to Surrey to attend drama school at the age of 16 to study Musical Theatre. She graduated 3 years later at the age of 19 with a Professional Diploma in Musical Theatre. After graduating, Louise embarked on a career in Musical Theatre, working in America, Canada, the Middle East and around Europe.

Throughout her time working as a professional performer she also worked as a freelance dance and singing tutor which inspired her to open Performance Preparation Academy.

To date Louise has been the owner of Performance Preparation Academy since 2008 and the Principal up until 2020, gaining validated by De Montfort University to provide BA (Hons) degrees in Musical Theatre and Acting in 2016. Her imagination and drive built up the college from an idea to becoming one of the leading Drama Schools in the UK, recognised by the industry for innovation within the training of Performing Arts.

Louise’s moto for all students is to ‘work hard and be kind’.

Performance Preparation Academy (PPA) has quickly become recognised as one of the UK’s leading institutes for exceptional performing arts training, with a strong emphasis made on employability and the needs of the profession delivered in a nurturing and supportive environment.

Located in the heart of Guildford’s vibrant town centre in state-of-the-art facilities, PPA’s courses in both Musical Theatre and Acting for Stage and Screen offer a challenging, life affirming and inspirational vocational theatre training, where all students are valued as an individual and trained by a dedicated teaching faculty of highly experienced industry professionals.

Celebrating its 12th Anniversary this year, PPA’s alumni have already made their mark within the entertainment world with numerous West End, UK & International Tours, Film & TV appearances to date.

DE MONTFORT UNIVERSITY

PPA partnered with De Montfort University in 2016 working together through a validation process to provide a BA (Hons) Performance in Musical Theatre and a BA (Hons) Acting for Stage and Screen to students at PPA.

This is the beginning of a fantastic journey of learning, development and exploration – and on that journey, De Montfort staff work closely with our PPA programme team to support, coach and inspire our students.

“University life offers many opportunities: take advantage of the variety available to you, plan a little, get involved and build your network in preparation for your future career – whether that be within the performance sphere or maybe further study.

You, our student, are the most important person to us; our value of mutual respect remains a solid foundation for us all. We believe we can help you to make a difference to people’s lives, and know together we can make that happen.”

PPA is based in the heart of Guildford town centre, for those of you who are new to Guildford, here’s a quick overview of what Guildford has to offer; there are many restaurants in this lively town, Surrey Police reside in the town centre,  a selection of good theatres and several comedy clubs, despite its rural location for those seeking the bright lights of London, it is only a 30-minute train journey away.
