Validating Partner

PPA partnered with De Montfort University in 2016 working together through a validation process to provide a BA (Hons) Performance in Musical Theatre and a BA (Hons) Acting for Stage and Screen to students at PPA.

This is the beginning of a fantastic journey of learning, development and exploration – and on that journey, De Montfort staff work closely with our PPA programme team to support, coach and inspire our students.

“University life offers many opportunities: take advantage of the variety available to you, plan a little, get involved and build your network in preparation for your future career – whether that be within the performance sphere or maybe further study.

You, our student, are the most important person to us; our value of mutual respect remains a solid foundation for us all. We believe we can help you to make a difference to people’s lives, and know together we can make that happen.”

PPA is based in Guildford, Surrey. For those of you who are new to Guildford, here’s a quick overview of what Guildford has to offer; there are many restaurants in this lively town, Surrey Police reside in the town centre,  a selection of good theatres and several comedy clubs, despite its rural location for those seeking the bright lights of London, it is only a 30-minute train journey away.

I am delighted to see our partnership with PPA, which began in 2016, embodying our strategy and exemplifying a ‘partnership with purpose’. Having originally approved the partnership for the delivery of two full undergraduate programmes, DMU has supported the growth of the PPA portfolio with a distance learning top-up programme being added in 2020, and two DMU-validated foundation year programmes being developed for launch in September 2023.

As DMU responds to local, national and global business needs, providing flexible ways to upskill our students, PPA’s programmes provide a strong mix of vocational and academic skills development that contribute to outstanding student degree outcomes. The close working relationship between PPA and DMU colleagues is an important ingredient and we very much look forward to ensuring our collaboration with PPA goes from strength to strength.
