WHAT TO PREPARE FOR YOUR
Two (contrasting) songs from the Musical Theatre repertoire. They must be clearly marked song sheets in a folder/display book. Backing tracks and chords only are NOT accepted. It is advisable not to transpose songs.
Two (contrasting) monologues: one classical and the other contemporary. Both pieces should be learnt off book and MUST not exceed 2 minutes each.
WHAT TO BRING TO YOUR
AUDITION
- Dance attire, ballet tights, leotard, ballet shoes and jazz wear.
- Hair is to be tied in a bun for the ballet class.
- Two clearly marked song sheets. Backing tracks are NOT accepted.
- Two monologues.
SCHEDULE OF THE AUDITION DAY
Part 1
Candidates will take part in a Ballet class which will include barre work, centre work and an enchainment. Candidates will then take part in a Jazz class which will include a warm up, stretches and corner exercises. Following this, candidates will be taught a short dance routine.
*Please do not worry if you haven’t had much experience in dance before. We are looking for your potential to learn.
Part 2
Candidates will take part in a monologue workshop, where they will perform one or both monologues as a group. Students will then be free to leave and return for their individual time slot.
Part 3
Candidates will be given individual slots to perform their songs to the audition panel, followed by a short interview.
